Willie Nelson’s Team Shares New Health Update After String Of Show Cancellations

Date:

It’s been an anxiety-inducing week for Willie Nelson fans, but after a string of show cancellations, it seems that the legendary crooner is finally on the mend.

Fans first became concerned for the health of the 91 year venerable last week when an unspecified illness caused him to miss a number of appearances on the first leg of his Outlaw Music Festival Tour.

“We regret to inform you that Willie Nelson is not feeling well and, per doctor’s orders, has been advised to rest for the next four days,” his camp said in a statement. “He is expected to make a quick recovery and join the Outlaw Music Festival tour next week.”

It ended up taking longer than expected to get clearance from his doctors, and Nelson missed a total of five shows in Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, and upstate New York.

Then, over the weekend, there was finally some good news.

“Willie Nelson has been cleared by his doctors to go back on the road again,” a June 28 statement shared to his social media accounts announced. “He will resume performing on the Outlaw Tour next week.”

The next scheduled tour stop is in Mansfield, Massachusetts on July 2. That will be followed by Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic in Camden, New Jersey, on July 4.

Despite his age, Nelson is adamant that he has no plans to retire from touring. At least, not if he can aid it.

“I have everything I need on the [tour] bus,” Nelson told AARP last year. “I never have to go into a hotel room anywhere. It’s not that bad.”

“Working is really good for me,” he added.

We can’t wait to see you back on stage soon, Willie!
