Tim McGraw Says Medical Procedure Is Forcing Him To Exit Novel Netflix Drama

Date:

Tim McGraw’s acting career has been temporarily put on hold. The country singer-turned-actor was meant to take the reins in a rodeo series for Netflix, however, it was just announced that he is stepping down from the show for his health.

McGraw, who most recently appeared in Yellowstone and its prequel series 1883, was meant to star in the Netflix series, which is currently untitled but was announced in May of last year. However, he reportedly needs to have surgery that is taking him away from the show.

According to Deadline, “a source close to the actor-musician indicated that he needed to undergo back surgery which would require recovery time.” McGraw reportedly was injured during his Standing Room Only tour in 2024, resulting in cancellation of the remaining tour dates. He had orthopedic surgery on both his knees and will apparently also require back surgery, per Deadline.

Bull riding and back surgery do seem like a bad match. Hopefully, McGraw will have a speedy recovery and be back in shape soon. Luckily, he has his career as a country music megastar to fall back on.

The drama is set in the world of competitive bull riding and McGraw was cast to play a champion who “faces a life-or-death crossroads when confronted by the arrival of a fearless young rider whose very existence challenges his ways and unearths secrets that force him to reckon with his past,” per Netflix.

It’s unclear whether the show will be cancelled, delayed, or whether someone else will step into the lead role. This is a developing story.
