NLR filmmaker and actor Corbin Pitts is staying busy

Date:

As per usual, North Little Rock filmmaker, actor and 18-year-old Corbin Pitts has a lot going on.

For starters, AY Magazine recently reported that he’s part of the cast for “The Neglected,” a forthcoming David Lipper-directed thriller that wrapped production in behind schedule December, according to Deadline.

The film, which also features Dylan Sprouse (“The Suite Life of Zach & Cody”) and Til Schweiger (“Inglourious Basterds”), stars Josh Duhamel as a detective who’s “about to retire when he finds out on his last day of work that a serial killer has buried his son alive. He then races against the clock to solve three murders and find his son’s location before he runs out of air.”

The size of Pitts’ role in the film is unclear, but what we do know is that he’s playing the aforementioned son. Sounds pretty intense. We also know that Pitts previously worked with Lipper on “Murder at Hollow Creek,” which Lipper directed, and “Crescent City,” which Lipper acted in. Both movies came out in 2024 and are available to rent or purchase on digital platforms like Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV.

When the Arkansas Times last caught up with Pitts, it was 2022 and he had just premiered “Salad Days” — a 46-minute miniature that he wrote and directed — at the age of 16. Years before that, he had a recurring role in season 3 of “True Detective.”

Since graduating high school in May 2024, Pitts has been working on “Good Time Charley,” his debut feature film, which he also wrote and directed. (Plus, he’s a freshman at Savannah College of Art and Design, where he’s studying film/television and acting.) Per a press release, the film, which is currently in post-production, revolves around astronomer Charley Codwell, who “loses everything” after “blowing the lid on a comet conspiracy. As Charley grapples with his own redemption, he must unravel the truth and prevent mass hysteria before time runs out for both his reputation and a world on the brink of madness.”

Featuring an ensemble cast that includes Natural State mainstays like Ashlie Atkinson, Natalie Canerday, Barry Clifton and Brian Earles — as well as musical assist from Little Rock duo Cliff & Susan — the film “showcase[s] the incredible talent and creativity within Central Arkansas,” Pitts said.

A bit more from the release:

Good Time Charley is a SAG-AFTRA feature film covering the psychology of “herd-mentality,” and one’s refusal to conform to fit in with a group or society. At its root, it’s a drama with a touch of murky comedy. Set in Central Arkansas in 2024, we explore a society filled with extremists; individuals deep in their echo chambers/ways. Emotional, awkward, raw, and rooted in character, Good Time Charley is a love letter to those who feel that they don’t belong or cannot have a normal human interaction without making it a cringy disaster.
