Heights Taco & Tamale Co. has temporarily closed for building renovations, aka “a glow-up,” according to a post on social media last week.
“After 10 years, our historic home for all things Ark-Mex needs a little extra TLC,” the post says.
The renovation project was scheduled to begin on March 24, and the target date for completion is early April.
Earlier this year, Yellow Rocket Concepts, the Little Rock-based restaurant group behind Heights Taco & Tamale, Local Lime, ZAZA, Big Orange, Lost Forty Brewing and Camp Taco, entered into a partnership with FoxDen Capital, a local investment firm that has taken over majority ownership of the company. The partnership was formed in an effort to drive growth and expansion. Yellow Rocket’s principal partners John Beachboard, Scott McGehee and Russ McDonough will retain minority ownership stakes of varying sizes.
Shortly after the partnership was announced in January, Yellow Rocket closed its Conway ZAZA location near Hendrix College. The company said at the time that its original ZAZA location in Little Rock’s Heights neighborhood “is still going strong, and we’re looking forward to growing ZAZA in Central Arkansas.”
Yellow Rocket plans to expand both locally and outside of the state. Last year, the company opened its first restaurant outside of Arkansas with a Local Lime location in Germantown, Tennessee.
