Slideshow: Protesters pay Rep. French Hill a visit

Date:

A well-mannered cluster of protesters gathered at Arkansas 2nd District Congressman French Hill’s Little Rock office Thursday afternoon in hopes of reminding him that his allegiance should be to the country, not the president.

The event was an organic one, loosely organized and advertised only by word of mouth and social media posts, participants said. Still, it brought out nearly 100 people.

A manager at the Prospect Building on North University where Hill has an office came out to shoo the crowd away from the parking lot and over to the roadside, where they gave rush hour drivers a vivid spectacle and some hefty things to think about.

Homemade protest signs decried the loss of aid and global goodwill that comes with the Trump administration’s dramatic cuts to USAID. Other signs urged Hill to respect the federal workforce that keeps national parks neat and sheltered, and to ditch that Elon Musk guy. One sign kindly invited Hill to put on a town hall, which he hasn’t done in years.
